Abstract

In the CaO-CuO system, the intermediate phase stable at low temperatures is CaCuO 2, although its stability range is narrow. Besides this, nonstoichiometry and incommensurability effects complicate its preparative chemistry and characterization. The use of different precursors is compared to show the influence of the procedural variables not only in the morphology but also in he stoichiometry of the resulting solid, Ca 1− x CuO 2 (0⩽ x⩽0.14).
