Abstract

We consider a SIS model with stage structure in which the maturation delay is modeled as a distribution, to allow for the possibility that individuals may take different amounts of time to mature. General birth function and incidence rate are used. The basic reproductive number R 0 to determine whether the disease is extinct or not is found. Furthermore, we obtain sufficient conditions of globally asymptotical stability for the disease-free equilibrium and the endemic equilibrium.
