Abstract

AbstractQuasicyclic or quasiignorable coordinates occur in mechanical systems with equations of motion of the Lagrangian type and can be interpreted as a generalisation of the well known cyclic or ignorable coordinates. In this paper parts of the theory of cyclic coordinates are extended to quasicyclic coordinates. Especially we present sufficient conditions for the existence of the reduced system and generalize the Routh‐Salvadori theorem about the stability of stationary motions.
