Abstract

A slotted ALOHA-based random access protocol for a WCDMA system is proposed. To resolve the bistable problem of the slotted ALOHA, the proposed protocol controls the random access rates according to the characteristics of traffic classes. To ensure stable throughput a mathematical model is developed which derives a correlation between the offered load and the access rate.
