Abstract
This study was carried out in order to determine the bread wheat varieties suitable for the ecological conditions of Siirt province in 2014-2016. In the study, plant height, spike length, number of tillers, number of spikelets, number of grains per spike, 10-spike weight, and 1000-grain weight characteristics of 25 bread wheat cultivars were investigated. In the study, plant height 51.5-101.7 cm, spike length 6.34-16.73 cm, number of tillers 2.9-6.6 per plant, number of spikelets 14.3-252 per spike, number of grains per spike 30.0-65.5 pieces/spike, 10-spike weight 14.1-59.0 g and 1000-grain weights were found to vary between 18.13-48.44 g. Varieties differed statistically at the level of 1% in terms of all parameters examined. In conclusion, when all parameters were evaluated, it was determined that Bayraktar and İkizce-96 varieties could be recommended for bread wheat cultivation in the region.
