Abstract
Muon spin rotation measurement under a transverse field (TF-μSR) and muon spin relaxation under a longitudinal field (LF-μSR) were carried out on two organic radical ferromagnets, 4-( p-chlorobenzylideneamino)–TEMPO and 4-( p-phenylbenzylideneamino)–TEMPO just above T C, in order to understand critical phenomena and muon states in these systems. A muon spin rotation frequency which increased as temperature was lowered down to 0.3 K was observed under TF. In the LF-μSR, a muonium decoupling was observed. A muon spin resonance study on 4-( p-chlorobenzylideneamino)–TEMPO was carried out above T C. The hyperfine field at the muon site was found to be about 115 G/ μ B from the K– χ plot. We discuss the origin of the large shift observed under TF and the relationship between the TF-μSR and RF resonance results.
