Abstract
ABSTRACT This case study unveils the social curriculum and the community farm practices at Escuelita Semillera, an adult agroecological school initiative located in the premises of the University of Puerto Rico-Río Piedras. Founded by students and alumni who have maintained the community garden for 14 years, Escuelita Semillera offered free in-person classes to 50 participants in 2022 and 2023. Our research shows how its social curriculum fosters a transition from personal care to community and ecological care. This case highlights the vital role of care in adult agroecological education for enhancing social cohesion, building trust, and ensuring long-term community garden sustainability.
