Sprachrohre einer kleinen Gemeinschaft: die Periodika des Bukarester Turnvereins und dessen Beziehungen zur Bukarester deutschen Presse

Abstract

The Bucharest Gymnastics Association published throughout the years two periodicals, with the declared purpose of informing the members of the association about the current activities but also of providing a report of achievements and shortcomings for the generations to come: Jahresbericht des Bukarester Turnvereins/ Annual Report of the Bucharest Gymnastics Association and Nachrichtenblatt des Bukarester Turnvereins/ Newsletter of the Bucharest Gymnastics Association. The present article carries out a monographic presentation of the two periodicals published by the Bucharest Gymnastics Association and examines the association's relationship with the German press in Bucharest in order to offer a glimpse into the everyday life of the German community living in Bucharest in the second half of the 19th century and the interwar period, as it has been insufficiently analyzed from a historical point of view.
