Abstract

A theoretical study of the magnetic excitations of an iron monolayer grown on a stepped tungsten surface is presented. The theory includes contributions due to an applied field, exchange interactions and dipole interactions. The effects of nearest and next nearest neighbour exchange interactions are examined. Modes that become localized to the step edges are found for values of the wave vector close to the boundaries of the first Brilliouin zone.
