Abstract

Spin polarization of photoelectrons and Auger electrons plays an important role in the study of electronic states in magnetic materials. After reviewing the effects of electron correlation on the photoemission spectra in Ni, we present our theory of spin-polarized photoelectrons in the resonant photoemission of Ni. The agreement of the calculated results with experimental data supports the 3d electron correlation picture based on the two-d-hole bound state formation. The spin polarization of L23M23M23 Auger electrons from ferromagnetic materials is also calculated and compared with a recent experimental result.
