Abstract
We report preliminary results from our effort to extend the study of spin-polarized atomic hydrogen in high magnetic fields up to 20 Tesla. Recombination lifetimes are analyzed to extract three-body recombination rates. Our results are compared to theoretical predictions for reduced recombination and thus lifetime enhancement above 14 Tesla. Our discussion places particular emphasis on assessing the feasability of observing Bose-Einstein condensation in the ultrahigh field regime.
