Abstract

We propose a new mechanism of spin orientation of charge carriers by an electric current in quantum wells. The mechanism is related to processes of electron scattering by static defects or phonons which are spin-dependent. Estimations show that the proposed mechanism can be dominant in n-type quantum well structures.
