Abstract

Starting from a modified effective mass equation in the presence of a magnetic field, spin–orbit interaction and exchange interactions due to magnetic impurities, a systematic analysis of the anisotropic g-factor and effective masses in Pb 1− x Eu x Te has been made. Carrier contributions to these quantities are also considered. In all these calculations, anisotropies are found to be appreciable. Agreement with experimental results, when available, is reasonably good.
