Abstract

Petroleum asphalts are widely used in the production of roofing, waterproofing, sealing, anticorrosion, and other materials. Among their shortcomings, which carry over into materials based on petroleum asphalts, is poor freeze resistance, the end result being a shorter life of the coating. Various types of additives may be used to broaden the temperature range for the use of asphalt coatings.
