Abstract
This paper introduces a speed control of linear induction motor (LIM) by using three different strategies of control. A proportional Integral (PI) controller is used to control the speed of LIM. The output of the PI controller is regarded as the reference thrust for all three different schemes. In the first control scheme, both thrust and stator flux ripple are large moreover variable switching frequency. And, the second control scheme is used to fix the switching frequency and reduce the ripples. This control strategy is direct thrust control based on space vector modulation (DTC-SVM). More enhancements have been done by using the proposed finite-state predictive thrust control (FS-PTC). FS-PTC is more precise and more effective in the selection of the voltage vector and becomes a strong method for controlling drives of the linear induction motor. The simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed FS-PTC method in comparison with the other methods.
