Abstract

Differential cross sections were measured for elastic and inelastic scattering of 22 MeV protons from 70,72Ge, using a tandem Van de Graaff and a split-pole magnetic spectrometer, with an overall resolution of 10 keV. Excitation energies and angular distributions for states below 4.5 and 4.1 MeV excitation energy for 70Ge and 72Ge, respectively, were obtained and angular distribution was compared with DWBA calculations in order to extract L-values and deformation parameters. Coupled-channels calculations based on the asymmetric rotor model and vibrational model (harmonic and anharmonic) were performed for the 0 + 1, 2 + 1, 2 + 2 and 4 + 1 states respectively. Systematic results of the even- A germanium isotopes with mass 70 < A < 76 via the (p,p') inelastic scattering are discussed. Satisfactory descriptions for the excited 2 + 1, 0 + 2, 2 + 2 and 4 + 1 states were obtained by the anharmonic vibrational model for all isotopes studied.
