Abstract

Detailed study of the masses of ground, orbitally and radially excited states of $$ D $$ -meson $$Q{\bar{q}}$$ , $$(Q=c, {\bar{q}}=u/d)$$ in the framework of screened potential model with the Gaussian wave-function is done in the present article. $${{\mathcal {O}}}\left( \frac{1}{m}\right) $$ correction to the potential energy term and relativistic correction to the kinetic energy term $${{\mathcal {O}}}(p^{10})$$ is incorporated in the Hamiltonian. The spin-hyperfine, spin-orbit and tensor interactions incorporating the effect of mixing are employed to obtain the pseudoscalar, vector and radially and orbitally excited meson masses. The Regge trajectories in $$(J, M^{2})$$ and $$(n_{r}, M^{2})$$ planes are constructed, which help in associating some excited states observed in various experimental facilities to $$ D $$ -meson family. Various properties like mixing parameters, decay constant, leptonic decay widths and corresponding branching ratios, as well as electromagnetic transition widths are also calculated.
