Abstract

A Gaussian wave function is used for detailed study of the mass spectra of the B and BS mesons using a Cornell potential incorporated with a \U0001d4aa(1/m) correction in the potential energy term and expansion of the kinetic energy term up to \U0001d4aa(p10) for relativistic correction of the Hamiltonian. The predicted excited states for the B and Bs mesons are in very good agreement with results obtained by experiment. We assign B2(5747) and Bs2(5840) as the 13P2 state, B1(5721) and Bs1(5830) as the 1P1 state, B0(5732) as the 13P0 state, Bs1(5850) as the state and B(5970) as the 23S1 state. We investigate the Regge trajectories in the (J,M2) and (nr,M2) planes with their corresponding parameters. The branching ratios for leptonic and radiative-leptonic decays are estimated for the B and BS mesons. Our results are in good agreement with experimental observations as well as outcomes of other theoretical models.

Introduction

Last decade is known for noteworthy experimental progress, to understand the spectroscopy of meson containing heavy-light quark. In the case of the B and BS mesons, the ground state as well as first few orbitally excited states, have been well established experimentally. Other radially and orbitally excited states require further experimental investigation. In 2013, the CDF collaboration investigated the B0π√+ and B+π− invariant mass distributions using data at s = 1.96 TeV ppcollisions corresponding to integrated luminosity of 9.6 f b−1. They found evidence for a new resonance the B(5970). Precise measurements were made for mass and width of the B1(5721) and B2 (5747) as well as two excited state the BJ (5840)0,+ and BJ (5960)0,+ were observed [6, 7]
