Abstract

A procedure is outlined for the spectrophotometric determination in the visible light region of palladium II with nitroso R-salt. The absorbance of the red organo-palladium complex is measured at 510 mμ; the optimum pH range is 2 to 2.6. The colour reaction is instantaneous, and the complex formed is stable for several days and obeys Beer's law. The tolerance to a number of ions has been established, and palladium can be determined, even in the presence of gold, with good precision and accuracy.
