Abstract

This paper is concerned with the photometric determination of chromium, 0.0050.10 per cent, in the presence of large amount of copper using diphenylcarbazide as a color reagent. The red-violet oxidized compound of diphenylcarbazide by chromate is stable under the proper condition and the compound is found to have a fairly broad absorption band in the green. (maximum absorption at 545 mμ). Absorption spectrum bands of copper salts are in 580 mμ1000 mμ. Then, for spectrophotometric determination 545 mμ must be used, and for filter type photometric determination highly selective green light filter must be selected. In this method, large amounts of copper do not interfere. This procedure is simple and rapid.
