Abstract
The concept of the configuration-coordinate (CC) model for calculations of spectral line shapes of organic dyes in solutions is discussed. We propose the reinterpretation and justification of the CC-model in terms of the conditional free energy associated with some significant physical observable (s). We stress the role of possible non-stationarity of the relaxation processes occurring in liquids.
