Abstract

This paper reports on the spectral analysis of Lead Titanate (PbTiO3) ferroelectric ceramics with Sm3+ or Dy3+ ions. These ceramics were prepared by using a solid state reaction method. Emission spectrum of Sm3+: PbTiO3 powder ceramic has shown emission bands at 559 nm (4G5/2→6H5/2), 596 nm (4G5/2→6H7/2), 643 nm (4G5/2→6H9/2) and 698 nm (4G5/2→6H11/2) with an excitation at 408 nm (6H5/2→4L13/2),of them, 4G5/2 →6H7/2 (596 nm) has shown a bright orange-reddish emission. Dy3+: PbTiO3 powder ceramic has shown a strong yellow emission at 582 nm (4F9/2→ 6H13/2) with 451nm (6H15/2→4I15/2) as an excitation wavelength. Besides, their structural characteristics have also been investigated.
