Abstract

The article analyzes the specifics of teaching the academic discipline «Methods of teaching socio-political disciplines in higher education institutions» at the second (master's) level of higher education in the specialty 052 «Political Science». The research proved that the future lecturer of socio-political disciplines must master the professional competences of teaching in higher education, the methodology of preparation and conducting of educational classes taking into account the achievements of pedagogical and psychological science, the requirements of didactics and own scientific interests in the context of the chosen profession. The key role in teaching the discipline plays the identification of regularities in the organization of the study of socio-political disciplines, as well as the connection of the educational material with the political practice of today, since it is an important and essential factor in consolidating and systematizing the knowledge of a future political scientist. The research substantiated that in order to improve the quality of teaching socio-political disciplines and develop competence among political science master degree students, it is necessary to apply professionally oriented teaching methods in situations close to the professional reality, as well as to practice the use of innovative active and interactive teaching methods based on the combinatorial approach. The research analyzed the peculiarities of conducting lectures and practical classes: all tasks on various topics are correlated with the previously completed assignments and complement them; most tasks are performed in small groups; the tasks assume a mandatory presentation of the results of the researched issues using a creative approach.
