Abstract

The structure of polyamido-imide copolymers containing different amounts of rigid diamine units was studied by thermomechanical methods, IR spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction techniques. Geometric correspondence of parameters of the diamine units favours the formation in the polymer of a mesomorphic structure characterized by the maximum number of intermolecular hydrogen bonds. All investigated films exhibit a texture with the macromolecular axis oriented preferentially in parallel with the film surface.
