Abstract
The development of speciation and fractionation schemes of phosphorus from various sediments were outlined together with the elucidation of the advantages or disadvantages of the schemes, and the ecological significance of different forms of phosphorus; suggestions for further researches were presented in this field. They can be of great help to the relevant researches that have been less conducted in China.
