Abstract

The documentation of indigenous medicinal plants in Rogongon, Iligan City, Lanao del Norte was assessed for species composition, diversity, and dominance using the transect method.The study aimed to determine the species accounts of indigenous medicinal plants in the area of Rogongon, Iligan City. A total of twenty (20)medicinal plant species were counted and identified namely, Annona muricata, Carica papaya, Ipomoea batatas, Senna alota, Leucaenaleucocephala, Gliricidiasepium, Origanumvulgare, Plectranthusscutellarioides, Perseaamericana, Theobroma cacao, Ficusseptica, Musa spp., Psidiumguajava, Peperomiapellucida, Eleusineindica, Cymbopogoncitratus, Coffeaarabica, Citrus maxima, Capsicum annuum and Curcuma longa. The botanical families with the highest numberof species were represented by the families Fabaceae (20.39%)followed byMoraceae(15.53%) andMusaceae (13.59%). The information recorded and presented in this study may be useful for achieving ecologically-stable medicinal flora associates in the future that may provide economic benefits to the community.
