Abstract
Abstract The interstitial water and the sediments of a core collected in a highly polluted area of the Baie de Villefranche (Mediterranean Sea) were analysed for Fe and Mn. The vertical distribution of solutes in pore water is compared with the total amount of the respective components in the solid phase and their distribution in the various chemical forms determined by means of sequential chemical extractions.
