Abstract

Abstract With the changing environment and frequently updated product designs, the demands for reconfigurable mechanisms and robots are increasing. This special issue is dedicated to the theory and design of reconfigurable mechanisms and robots. The special issue with 14 papers shares the latest research and solutions of reconfigurable mechanisms and robots in theory and design. It is based on an open call with invited papers presented in the IEEE/IFToMM International Conference on Reconfigurable Mechanisms and Robots (ReMAR 2021) which was the fifth edition following previous successful conferences in London (ReMAR 2009), Tianjin (ReMAR 2012), Beijing (ReMAR 2015), and Delft (ReMAR 2018). ReMAR 2021 was held on August 12-14, 2021, in Toronto, Canada. It is planned to have ReMAR 2024 at Purdue University.
