Abstract

Subject. The article explores the State policy for the development of rural areas. Objectives. Our aim is to develop tools to help bridge the significant gap between urban and rural population in terms of living standards. Methods. The study employs methods of logical and statistical analysis. Results. We offer our own methodology enabling to determine the necessary minimum for the provision of the population of rural areas with centers of trade and consumer services. Conclusions. In view of the threat of desolation of rural areas, it is crucial to adjust regional regulatory and legal documents related to the solution of demographic problems, as well as to design municipal programs to develop service centers in rural areas.
