Abstract

Abstract: Electrodes of lithium-ion batteries show similarities with classic ceramic products. In both, oxide or carbonaceous materials in powder form are used and the processing is carried out by a slurry-based coating process. However, electrodes lack a densifying sintering step. This results in consequences from the application of additives to the final cell properties. Additionally, within the process chain, mixing and drying have the crucial task of setting the desired electrode structure.
