Abstract

ABSTRACT This study investigated the effectiveness of using two VR language learning platforms, MondlyVR and VirtualSpeech, in improving speaking proficiency, reducing anxiety, and enhancing engagement. A mixed-method design was conducted with 93 participants randomly assigned to a control group, a MondlyVR group, and a VirtualSpeech group. The two intervention groups showed significant improvements in speaking proficiency, reduced anxiety, and enhanced learning engagement compared to the control group. The study highlights the importance of incorporating innovative media transitions, such as the transition from VR to real-life scenarios, to enhance the transferability of skills. By combining VR with innovative media transitions, educators can provide learners with a more engaging and effective learning experience, leading to successful communication in multilingual settings.
