Abstract
In this paper a smart antenna array based on the time modulation technique is presented. A time-modulated antenna array (TMAA) is similar to a phased antenna array. The main difference is utilization of switches instead of phase shifters, which leads to generation of harmonic components. The main advantages of the proposed antenna system lies in a simplicity of design and a low cost of components. The proposed TMAA has been investigated as a part of wireless communication system and used to perform a spatial multiplexation. An example described in this paper presents the capability of a beam-scanning and a spatial filtration of digitally modulated signals.
