Abstract

We studied the domain structure and the hysteresis loop of amorphous GdxFe1−x alloy films having perpendicular easy axis anisotropy, and found that the domain pattern, just after reversal at the nucleation field, was sparklike where the strip domain diverged radially from one point to all the area of the sample. The nucleation field Hn was strongly dependent on the maximum magnetizing field Hm for Hm<2 kOe. In the region Hm≳2 kOe, however, the value of Hn was almost constant at 450 Oe.
