Abstract

Abstract We study the spacing of energy levels in two-body systems and discuss some implications for quarkonium physics. The case of a perturbation around the harmonic oscillator is supplemented, whenever possible, by a non-perturbative study, at least in the WKB approximation. We first compare the location of a level with angular momentum l + 1 to the average of the neighbouring levels with angular momentum l . We also study the spacing between the various radial excitations at fixed angular momentum l = 0.
