Abstract
The radio astronomy satellite HALCA, launched in February 1997, is the main element of the VLBI Space Observatory Program (VSOP) which enables images to be made at 1.6 GHz and 5 GHz with resolutions up to three times higher than can be obtained from ground VLBI. Most VSOP observations are of compact, radio-loud flat-spectrum extragalactic sources, with many of the identified CGRO gamma-ray sources already having been observed. In this paper VSOP observations of gamma-ray sources are reviewed.
