Abstract

The aim of the following paper is to examine what range of vocabulary connected with handcrafting in wood in contemporary everyday Polish is used by amateurs creating in wood as well as by authors of texts depicting the beforementioned handicraftsmen. The source material has been excerpted from the website publications related to urban carpentry shop Wióry lecą. The Linguistic Field Theory has been applied to present 150 lexical items ( 557 used in total), where 132 items are noted in the selected Polish dictionaries and 18 names are neologisms. The analysis of the source material proves that the vocabulary connected with handicraft in internet publications is the lexical reflection of their work, creation in wood and also their emotional attitude towards raw material.
