Abstract
The paper analyses the features of everyday life of a Soviet city in the context of factory corporatism (departmentalism). Industrial corporatism covered various aspects of the Soviet way of life in cities. The subject of study is the city of Gorky, one of the largest industrial centres of the USSR. Factories played one of the central roles in the urban development of the territory. Social policy was the most important activity of Soviet industrial enterprises. Corporatism was part of the cultural and leisure sphere of the Soviet city.
