Abstract

The Workshop on Source and Loss Processes of Magnetospheric Plasma was held at the International Space Science Institute (ISSI) in Bern, Switzerland in October. It marked the beginning of a two‐year project to study the source and loss processes of magnetospheric plasma, in which some 50 leading scientists from around the world are involved. Participants reviewed current knowledge of the processes that significantly affect the entry into and the disappearance from the magnetosphere at its inner and outer boundaries and planned the work of six working groups, which cover various parts of the system boundaries.
