Abstract
Developed over 50 years ago as a navigation tool for war ships during WWII, ultrasound has now become the most utilized form of diagnostic imaging after X-ray exams. It works by beaming high-frequency sound waves into the body, and the ‘echoes’ that bounce off tissues and organs can be visualized to provide valuable medical information.
