Abstract

The analytical studies on the sound absorption characteristics of a homogeneous Double Leaf Micro Perforate Panel (DL-MPP) absorber with non-circular perforations are presented in this study. The DL-MPP's sound absorption coefficient is calculated using an equivalent electro-acoustical model. The performance of the DL-MPP with Non-Circular perforations was investigated by varying factors such as hole topology, aspect ratio, hole size, perforation ratio, air cavity depth, and panel thickness. The obtained results indicate that rectangular holes have higher absorptivity. The results also show that the DL-MPP absorptivity increases with increasing the aspect ratio of rectangular perforations and decreasing panel thickness.
