Abstract
Usage of literary works and biographies are important in social studies education. The aim of this study is to elicit the usage situation of biographies in social studies (4 th to 7 th grades) curricula and textbooks. In this study, document analysis, one of the methods of qualitative approach, was used. As documents, social studies curricula (4 th to 7 th grades) and social studies textbooks, written by Ministry of National Education, were explored. Collected data were analyzed through content analysis. The results of the study showed that in general biographies are used in both social studies curricula and social studies textbooks.
