Abstract

Stunting is a condition of failure to thrive (growth faltering) in children under five due to chronic malnutrition, especially in the first 1,000 days of life (HPK) or until children are 2 years old. Stunting can affect brain growth and development. Stunted children also have a higher risk of suffering from chronic diseases in their adult years. Thus, in an effort to prevent stunting, the first 1000 days of life should receive special attention because it determines a person's level of physical growth, intelligence and productivity in the future. The socialization activity to prevent and accelerate the reduction in the prevalence of stunting in Mekar Jaya Village is one of the activities organized by the Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Service of the Regional Government of Lampung Province. Mekar Jaya Village is in the Banjar Baru District, Tulang Bawang Regency, and Mekar Jaya Village was chosen because the prevalence rate of stunting is 0%, so it is hoped that the socialization targets, namely PKK cadres and Posyandu cadres, can be motivators in other villages, especially in the Banjar Baru District, Tulang Bawang Regency
Promotion of prevention and acceleration of reduction in the prevalence of stunting is an alternative solution to the problem of preventing and treating stunting. The method used is nutrition counseling and question and answer. The purpose of this community service activity is to invite the public to be aware of the importance of child development and health from an early age and to use local food in the form of MP-ASI to provide adequate nutrition for toddlers. The results obtained increased the knowledge and awareness of PKK and Posyandu cadres in Mekar Jaya village regarding the importance of preventing stunting in children and being able to invite parents of toddlers to live a clean and healthy life, because Posyandu is the front line for maternal and child health services.
