Abstract

Abstract To reconstract an approximate distribution function from its first few moments the Sonine polynomial expansion is proposed. Its zeroth approximant includes the mean value, the variance, and the skewness. The rapid convergence of the present expansion series is examined, comparing the reconstracted distribution function with the Monte Carlo results.
