Abstract
The quantum groups GL q ( n) and SL q ( n) are defined as pairs of Hopf algebras, and it is shown they are absolutely connected. When q is a root of 1, some quantum analogue of the Frobenius map and some related finite quantum groups are introduced and their simplicity is studied.
