Abstract

Fabrication of micro-holes is an interesting task in the aerospace and automobile engineering sector, especially on Super alloys viz. Nimonics, Inconel and Titanium alloys. Rotary Electrical Discharge Machining (REDM) is a variant method used widely for drilling on Ni-Based alloys. In the current research article rotary pin type electrode has been used as tool electrode with 45° thread angle. The study has been done using cryogenically treated Cu-tool electrode to fabricate hole on Ni-based super alloy (Inconel-718) using Taguchi’s Methodology. In the present research article machinability in terms of material removal rate, MRR have been discussed using Taguchi’s Methodology.
