Abstract

The theory of fast switching presented here concerns with the speed of reading or writing in memory or switching in logical circuits, all of which employ magnetic cores. The overall speed of these processes depends both on the speed of switching between the stacks of the bistable devices and on the speed of transmission of information either between devices or into and out of the memory. The switching speed which is our primary concern here, depends on the energy absorbed by these bistable devices which is once again related to the inherent magnetic properties of the material and the value of the applied magnetic field. The optimum pulse characteristics for NonDestructive Read-Out (NDRO) in ferrite core memory arrays is investigated in this paper both theoretically and experimentally.
