Abstract
Given an algebraic number field with unit group and a prime number , consider the bilinear form , where is the -adic logarithm. For certain types of fields it is shown that the form is nondegenerate. We investigate the behavior of the rank of the kernel of on the family of intermediate fields in a -extension . Bibliography: 11 titles.
