Abstract

Abstract Seven new oribatid mites of the family Oppiidae are described from Amami-Ohshima Island, South Japan. They are Oxyoppia clavata, O. incurva, Brachioppia japonica, Parasynoppia longisensillata, Oppia yuwana, O. actirostrata, and Senectoppia pectinata. Parasynoppia is a new genus with very long sensilli, minute lamellar setae, eight pairs of notogastral setae, two pairs of them being very long.
