Abstract

An illustrated morphological description of Poroliodes farinosus at different developmental stages is given. The surface of the prodorsum is reticulate; the surface of the notogaster, folded. The notogaster is strongly narrowed caudally; in nymph I and all the subsequent stages, it is concealed by central-dorsal parts of exuvia, and all the dorsal setae are reduced. Trichobothria are present at all the stages. Lamellar setae and setae h3, located on either side of the larval anal aperture, are absent in nymph I and subsequent stages. The larva possesses 9 pairs of notogastral setae, nymphs and adult, 5 pairs. By contrast to the majority of oribatid mites, leg IV chaetom formula is 0-1-0-2-7, and not 0-0-0-0-7.
