Abstract

The silver ores in the Guanajuato mining district in Mexico consist of disseminated silver sulfides, selenides, and electrum in quartz-calcite veins and occur in three different ore types. The mineralogical and chemical characteristics of the ore types were defined and the chemical compositions of some of the minerals were determined. It was found that the different ore types contain approximately the same minerals but in different proportions and specific minerals occurring in different ore types contain the same minor elements but in different quantities.
